A while back, I posted some of my abstract flower petals. Here are more abstract flowers, but done a different way. These are with the same macro lens set-up, but I just stick the lens in the flowers.
There is, of course, the same issue with an extremely narrow depth of field, but I like all the blurriness. I feel it gives it a dreamy feel.
None of these have had the colors adjusted in any way. Aside from cropping, they’re pretty much straight out of the camera.
Someone asked me if I’d thought about trying focus stacking. That sounds like too much work. I just kneel (or lie) in the garden, and poke my camera in. My main trouble is with wind and holding still. Sometimes I feel I should cut the flowers and clamp them in place, but cutting them would take too many out of the garden, which is where they belong.
Irises are the stars of the show, but others work too. And while many are dreamy and ethereal, others are energetic.
Some are less abstract than others.
I also like that you can see views of things that you didn’t really know existed. Here’s a columbine…
This is my life in the summer - the sun is out and the wind is calm! I must go out!
Wow! Now those are some close-ups! They are so soft! Followed your name from a comment I saw you make on someone else's post.
Nice photos, Kevin!
